Most of the mess in a car is not made during the drive. It is made in the few seconds a wet dog gets in, and again when it gets out — which is why the side flaps and the footwells matter far more than the middle of the bench.
This cover takes all three. It spans the back seat, drops down into both footwells, and has flaps that cover the sides where a dog scrambles in. The outer fabric is a heavy waterproof Oxford cloth, so grit and damp fur stay on top of it rather than working into the upholstery, and it shakes out rather than needing a wash every time.
The mesh window in the centre is the part people end up appreciating. It lets you see the dog and the dog see you, without leaving a gap they can climb through to the front. There is a zip across the middle so you can open half of it and carry a passenger and a dog at once, plus storage pockets for a lead and a towel.
Use it alongside a restraint, not instead of one. A cover protects the car. It does not hold a dog in place in a stop, and the two jobs should not be confused.
