Dogs that sleep curled up want edges to press against. This one is round with a raised rim the whole way round, so there's always a side to tuck into and something to rest a chin on — which is most of the appeal for a lot of dogs.
The filling is deep enough to keep a dog off a cold floor. That matters more in winter, and for older dogs whose joints feel a hard surface.
Three sizes. The 40cm suits cats and small dogs curled up; 50cm fits most terriers and spaniels; 65cm takes a medium dog comfortably, or a large one that sleeps tightly curled. Measure your dog nose to tail while they're asleep in their usual position, then add a few centimetres.
Long plush on top, soft enough that most dogs settle straight onto it rather than needing persuading.
Dogs curl to hold heat and to keep the belly covered, and they look for edges for the same reason they pick the corner of a room: contact on more sides reads as safer. A flat mat offers neither, which is why some dogs abandon one for the sofa.
